Angelina Jolie’s brother James Haven is stepping behind the camera to direct his first feature film.

Haven has signed on to take charge of The Last Boy, which is based on Thomas M. Burby’s novel The Last Boy on Earth, according to The Wrap. The film will center on the story of a teenage boy, who is left to search for survivors after a deadly airborne virus kills off most of the world’s population.

The movie will be Haven’s second directorial effort following his 2015 short film Court of Conscience, which featured his father Jon Voight.

Haven’s superstar sibling Angelina Jolie has also been active behind the camera in recent years. She made her feature film directorial debut in 2011 with In the Land of Blood and Honey and went on to helm Unbroken and By The Sea, which starred herself and her husband Brad Pitt.

She is currently working on First They Killed My Father: A Daughter of Cambodia Remembers, which is based on Cambodian author and human rights activist Loung Ung’s tale of surviving the notorious Khmer Rouge regime.

The 40-year-old insists she is not retiring from acting, but she is keen to concentrate on writing and directing.

“It’s (acting) going to take more of a back seat,” she said in 2014. “I’ve had a wonderful career and I’m very happy to have had all the opportunities I’ve had to tell stories and work for as long as I have.”

“I’m sure there will be a few more films but… I would like to focus more on writing and directing, and above all I would like to do more for the UN (United Nations) and my work with the PSVI (Preventing Sexual Violence Initiative).”
