Elton John Confirms Role in ‘Kingsman’ Sequel
Sir Elton John has confirmed he’s returning to the big screen for a role in the Kingsman sequel.
Details about the “Rocket Man” star’s role are still top secret, but he hit Instagram on Tuesday to end speculation about his involvement in The Kingsman: The Golden Circle.
Posting a photo of a pair of his famous spectacles on a poster that cryptically read “Wednesday night’s alright for fighting,” the rocker added the caption: “It’s been a long time since Tommy… #Kingsman.”
Wednesday night’s alright for fighting is clearly a reference to Elton’s 1973 hit “Saturday Night’s Alright (For Fighting),” while the Tommy mention recalls the rock star’s role as The Pinball Wizard in The Who’s 1975 rock opera Tommy.
In the new Kingsman film, John will join a cast that includes returning stars Taron Egerton and Mark Strong and newcomers Julianne Moore and Halle Berry.
John is no stranger to onscreen cameos, but he hasn’t flexed his acting muscles in a big movie project since the Spice Girls’ 1997 film Spice World, in which he played himself.
