Soap opera General Hospital dominated the Daytime Emmy Awards on Sunday, going home with five trophies including Outstanding Drama Series.

The long-running program scored the top prize for the 11th time in its five-decade history, as well as Outstanding Drama Series Directing Team, and three acting accolades for Outstanding Supporting Actor Sean Blakemore, Outstanding Younger Actor Bryan Craig, and Outstanding Lead Actor Tyler Christopher.

This marked the first-ever victory for Christopher, who has portrayed Nikolas Cassadine on General Hospital on and off for the past 20 years, after being nominated twice for the same category in the past.

“They say – I guess those who say things – it’s about the journey not the end result,” Christopher said upon receiving the prize.

Meanwhile, Live! With Kelly & Michael co-hosts Kelly Ripa and Michael Strahan earned their second win together for Outstanding Talk Show/Entertainment Host. The victory comes in the midst of the drama surrounding the former pro-athlete’s decision to unexpectedly quit his post in favor of a co-hosting spot on breakfast show Good Morning America.

The duo was not on hand to accept the award, and Strahan, who has been by Ripa’s side for the past four years, is expected to depart from the morning program on May 13.

Other notable winners include Mary Beth Evans (Outstanding Lead Actress, Days of Our Lives), Craig Ferguson (Outstanding Game Show Host, Celebrity Name Game), The Talk (Outstanding Talk Show/Entertainment), and Sesame Street mainstay Sonia Manzano, who was presented with the Lifetime Achievement prize.

The event was held at Los Angeles’ Westin Bonaventure, but not televised due to financial constraints facing the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
