“She always liked dancing when the music came on, she liked the beat so I said, ‘Let’s give it a shot,’” Sonja told Global News. Then they found Amanda’s Academy of Dance – a company that specializes in classes for kids with disabilities. In a video that has been viewed over 10,000 times, Malaniuk dances alongside her instructor at the studio to a mashup of “Shut Up and Dance” and “I Wanna Dance With Somebody.” It seems impossible that any studio would turn such an energetic dancer away, but that’s what happened. “We had a bad experience at one of the studios. We were told she wasn’t welcome, she wasn’t to their standards,” Sonja said. Amanda Desousa, owner of Amanda’s Academy of Dance said, “I just feel that it’s very important that any little girl or boy who wants to dance should be able to dance and be given the opportunity.” From the looks of the video, it seems like Malaniuk is taking full advantage of that opportunity. You can tell she’s right where she wants to be.
