Janet Jackson Delays Tour to Start Family
Janet Jackson is delaying her ill-fated tour because she and her husband are “planning our family.”
The “Rhythm Nation” singer, 49, first rescheduled the start of her Unbreakable World Tour so she could undergo throat surgery, then in March she postponed her European dates three weeks before the trek was due to start.
Jackson has now announced she is delaying the entire second leg of her tour, which was set to kick off in Las Vegas in May, because doctors have advised her to rest so she can start a family.
“We’re in the second leg of the tour and there has actually been a sudden change,” she told fans in a Twitter video. “I thought it was important you be the first to know. My husband and I are planning our family, so I’m gonna have to delay the tour.”
“Please if you can try and understand that it’s important that I do this now. I have to rest up, doctor’s orders, but I have not forgotten about you. I will continue the tour as soon as I possibly can.”
In the clip, which was filmed by Jackson as she rests in bed, she thanked her dancers, band, crew and promoters Live Nation before she concludes by praising her fans for their support.
“Once again, thank you to all the fans for your love, your undying love, your loyalty, that means so much to me, you’re truly appreciated,” she said. “It’s been a long journey and you guys have been there each and every step of the way and I really do appreciate that. Thank you so much… I will see you soon, I love you, bye.”
Jackson, who did not clarify if she was actually pregnant, married billionaire Wissam Al Mana in 2012. She was previously wed to singer James DeBarge, between 1984 and 1985, and video director Rene Elizondo, Jr. from 1991 to 2000.
