A Millionaire Gave Up His Wealth and Assets to Be With His True Love
Lifestyle| | By Lauren Boudreau
This is the story of a Chinese millionaire and a rural farmer. It’s the kind of story they make movies about – one where love conquers all. Yao Nanshan, 57, met Liu Lijian when he was traveling to her village for research. Nanshan, a Chinese ex-pat living in Spain, and his friend missed their train and suddenly found themselves stranded in the remote farming village with no place to stay. They knocked on doors begging for someone to take them in. Then they found Liu Lijian.
Lijian put them up for the night for free. According to Mashable, Nanshan fell for Lijian after speaking with her and he realizing how amazing a woman she was despite her hardships. Lijian, a widow, was barely making ends meet and has a daughter with a rare blood disease. A month later, Nanshan returned to the village to confess his love, but Lijian refused him saying that she could not impose her hardships on him, This only made Nanshan more determined. He returned to Spain again, but this time to hand over all of his assets and businesses to his children. It was after this that Lijian realized he was serious. She married him Christmas day. Nanshan’s children, though suspicious of their father’s brash move in the beginning, approve of the relationship after visiting and seeing how happy he is. The couple now runs an inn that they built together in Lijian’s hometown.
