O.J. Simpson Prosecutor Not Happy With Martin Sheen’s New Show
O.J. Simpson prosecutor Marcia Clark has blasted Martin Sheen over his plans to prove the fallen sports star did not kill his wife and her friend two decades ago. The West Wing star is developing a new TV tell-all series, titled Hard Evidence: O.J. Is Innocent, which he claims will exonerate the jailed athlete-turned-actor once and for all.
Clark, who headed the team that failed to put Simpson behind bars for the murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman in 1995, is stunned by the very idea of the show, and insists Sheen is making a big mistake. “It is nonsense, because there is no real logic, there’s no evidence, there’s nothing to back it up, nothing,” the 62-year-old legal eagle told The Today Show. Clark still believes Simpson is guilty of killing his estranged wife and Goldman, and she thinks the idea of pinning Brown’s death on Simpson’s now-45-year-old son – as Sheen’s show plans to do – is “the most hideous thing you can possibly do.” “Jason Simpson is the one they’re saying is guilty, and he can’t defend himself,” she added. “What is he going to do? Say, ‘It’s not me, it’s my dad?’ What a hideous thing for them to do. I can’t even tell you how awful it is. And it’s baseless.” Meanwhile, Clark is reliving O.J.’s 1995 murder trial on TV, watching the hit dramatization The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story. She is not thrilled with all aspects of the series, but she does like Sarah Paulson’s portrayal of herself. “I think she’s a genius,” she gushed. “I try to just watch her, because she’s fabulous. She’s amazing.” The finale of the hit show airs on Tuesday night.
