Oprah Winfrey was overwhelmed by the butterflies in her belly while filming new TV drama, Greenleaf.

The beloved 62-year-old media mogul is playing boozy character Mavis McCready in the upcoming series and the role marks her first part as a recurring character on a television show since her stint on Brewster Place in 1990.

But Winfrey admits her TV return was filled with anxiety, telling ET Online: “I don’t act enough to really feel comfortable with it. It’s always like an, ‘Oh gosh, now I gotta do that, kinda thing.'”

However, despite her initial worries, Winfrey, who is also executive producer of Greenleaf, is ultimately happy with the finished product.

“Oh my gosh! It’s so good!” she gushes of the program.

Greenleaf is based on the scandal surrounding a fictitious family who run a wealthy megachurch together in Memphis, Tennessee – although preaching the word of God in public, behind closed doors relatives are engaged in shockingly sinful deeds. Winfrey intends for viewers to be thrilled by the outrageous story lines, but she has too much respect for the Christian faith to diss churchgoers.

“I am never going to be disrespectful to the church (in the show). I can tell you that,” she insists. “I’m never going to be disrespectful, because it is the rock and foundation of who I am, so I would never do anything that disrespected that. Now, would I use it as a basis for telling stories about people who are flawed? Yeah, but I’m not going to do anything to disrespect it.”

And Winfrey’s character Mavis is flawed indeed, with the star explaining: “She uses F-bombs a couple of times.”

Even though she thought cursing up a storm on set was “fun,” her partner of 30 years, Stedman Graham, did not approve.

“I used an F-bomb once and Stedman said I’m not gonna stand here and listen to that kind of language, I wasn’t even talking to him!” she laughs.

Greenleaf debuts on Winfrey’s OWN network channel on June 21.
