Rita Ora to Host Revamped ‘America’s Next Top Model’ – Report
According to The Sun, Ora will be replacing supermodel Tyra Banks as the presenter of the show, which was axed from The CW last year after 12 years on air. However, it was later picked up by VH1, and the new season will air on the channel this fall. “Rita is in a dream world as she’s landed the ultimate gig,” a source told the publication. “She’ll be mixing her two passions of fashion and music and taking over from a TV institution in Tyra.” “Next Top Model bosses wanted to inject some freshness back into the format and they see Rita as the ideal new face. She is releasing a new single later this year to coincide with it.” Banks, who created America’s Next Top Model in 2003 and has enjoyed huge success as the format was picked up worldwide, previously reassured fans that she is going to be heavily involved in the revamped show. As well as being executive producer of the next season, Banks had the job of choosing her host replacement. “I’m pumped to identify that person and bring back the show,” Banks said earlier this year. “Top Model fans, you demanded that the show come back and VH1 answered the call. Get ready for a fierce-a-fied rebirth!” Ora’s last television role saw her judging singing hopefuls on The X Factor last year. But she quit the panel for the upcoming season of the ITV show, saying that she wanted to concentrate on her music career.
