‘Space Jam’ Sequel Officially in the Works With LeBron James
Everybody get up, Space Jam is back! The 1996 sports and Looney Tunes mash-up is making a comeback bringing some major talent along this time around. According to Entertainment Weekly, Lebron James is in talks to star in the sequel. Justin Lin, who previously worked on Star Trek Beyond and Fast & Furious 6, has signed on to direct the mega hit film. Andrew Dodge and Alfredo Botello are also expected to sign on and join Lin to write the sequel.
The original film had Micheal Jordan leading a team of Looney Tunes in a competitive game of basketball against a group of alien hybrids. The movie was a major hit grossing $225 million worldwide after catching on with both kids and adults. Many are wondering if James could fill Jordan’s shoes and live up to his classic performance. James definitely proved he could hold his own on the big screen after co-starring in the Amy Schumer comedy, Trainwreck, last summer. Development is still very early in the works so no word on when viewers can expect the comedy to be released. Hopefully some star basketball players, Wayne Knight, Bill Murray, and all the classic Looney Tunes will make an appearance!
