According to Airbnb, this is “the first-ever chance to live at the Great Barrier Reef where the movie is set.” The winner of the contest and their three lucky guests will spend the night on the floating paradise, have all meals provided by top Australian chef Neil Perry, and be given a personal snorkel and scuba tour of the area. Plane tickets to Australia are also included in the prize package. While the listing is meant to promote Pixar’s latest film, Airbnb hopes to raise awareness about the depleting conditions of the Great Barrier Reef and the importance of helping to conserve the World Heritage Sight. “The opportunity to live at one of the most spectacular places on earth, even if just for a night, is not just about experiencing the unrivaled beauty of the location,” Airbnb Australian Country Manager Sam McDonagh shared. “It’s about understanding how humans can better help and support this special environment.” Airbnb plans to do their part to help with the conservation by planting mangroves, salt marshes and wetland plants in the area. “These trees will reduce carbon and improve water quality going out to the seas and reef,” said McDonagh. Airbnb is known for their unusual and one-of-a-kind listings. In April the company offered up a chance to stay in a glass room submerged in a shark tank, while back in 2015 a couple got to spend the night at Fenway Park. The “Live Like Dory” contest is open now until June 30. The winners will be announced on July 4.
